stereobus
I want to build a mac mini. I was considering two options. 1. get a real mini logic board from ebay and build it in a custom case and install a legit copy of OS X... 2. Buy a mini itx board and Hackintosh it out. Can anyone give me some sense of how compatible this board will be? here's the newegg URL http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813153077 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75524-itx-boards-for-hackintosh/ Share on other sites
Synaesthesia
It will probably work, it looks completely compatible! But for the price you might as well get a Mac Mini and save yourself the trouble... sarahbau
Just get an actual Mac mini. It will actually cost less money. The motherboard and 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo alone add up to $440. The Mac Mini 1.83GHz costs $599, and has RAM, hard drive, optical drive, case, power supply, operating system, etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75524-itx-boards-for-hackintosh/#findComment-534702 Share on other sites
thirtysomething
I want to build a mac mini. Can anyone give me some sense of how compatible this board will be? here's the newegg URL http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813153077 Looks like the LAN, sound, and chipset on the above board are all supported one way or another using various kexts. I have had a less than stellar experience with another mini-itx board -- the MSI Fuzzy GM1. On my board, the LAN and sound absolutely do not work, and I have been unable to get or alter the corresponding kexts. I was wondering how far you've gone on your itx venture? Did you decide the itx route or just get a Mac Mini? chessclubloser
Hey, I was also looking at that exact board. I would like to build something similar. In regards to just buying a mac mini, the mac mini is much more expensive (~$400 more). I've priced a mini itx build with this board and 2.2 bore duo, 250g hd, 2g ram for about $640. To get that kind of specs in a mac mini it's over $1000. I'd like to hear any results of building with this mobo. Other jetway mobos have worked well. But I'm new to this hackintosh thing... like yesterday. chessclubloser, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75524-itx-boards-for-hackintosh/#findComment-636144 Share on other sites
Synaesthesia
Good price! Is that with the 2.2 ghz FSB 800 Merom Mobile processor? I'm pretty sure this board only supports FSB 667 chips...Check the Newegg link... The highest they have is 2.3GHz Dual and its about $700 after tax. knewsom
is it possible to get a macmini motherboard that doesn't already have a CPU soldered to it? If so, maybe that'd be the better option.
