karishbhr
Ok so in trying to delete a partition from my HD I screwed it up somehow and now windows doesn't recognize my HD when trying to install. I tryed using some boot discs like "ultimate boot disk" or w.e but I didn't know what I was doing and what I tried didn't work. I now trying to use a ubuntu live CD and install ubuntu, but get the error that the ext3 file system failed to install or something like that. When I turn on my computer the HD is listed through the bios with the correct name and size so I know I cannot be too screwed. I run the Western Digital diagnostic tool I downloaded and it gives me error 220 "hard-drive locked cannot perform diagnostic" Can someone please help me. I just want to wipe my HD completely clean so I can install an OS onto it. yaemish
Goto drive managment in Windows. Is the drive listed there? Does windows see the hardware and not the partition? snuffy58
assuming its a western digital hard drive go there and downlowd data lifeguard and get the cd then burn it andlet it run at boot up and select set up your drive it will set a partition and format it then you can go from there or hook it up as a slave to another comp and format it that way Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74836-need-major-hard-drive-help/#findComment-528605 Share on other sites
