FritoBandito
I am new to the Mac. I have a Mac Mini, VMWare Fusion, and a Windows XP VM running. I have certain things I want to run as a "server" under the Windows VM. I can run the VM when I log-in as me, and launch the VM. What I want is for the VM to be running everytime the Mac Mini is up and running, without having to log-in a user first. Perhaps this is a stupid question, but being new to Mac land, I'm not exactly sure where to look for this or if it is possible. Thanks in advance. -FB
zzztimbo
I have the EXACT same desire! I have resorted to running VMWare Server 2 Beta on Fedora 8. I would much rather have my Windows VM run as a service on my Mac Mini.
scj312
Just add VMware to Login Items in the Users system preferences.
zzztimbo
Doesn't that mean someone has to be logged in in order for Fusion to start? Just add VMware to Login Items in the Users system preferences.
LoLL
i think yes. Fusion is VMware Workstation for Mac and so, you need to be logged to start VM (IHM ready ;-)). If you want VM started w/o login, switch to VMware server available for Windows or Linux... VMW server allows VM start as it's a system service. FritoBandito
So, it sounds like what I want to do is just not possible. I can't have a VM running without a user logged in. That is unfortunate, but understandable. I'll have to find an alternative solution.. Thanks for the help! -FB P.S. VMWare is pretty awesome. It works great.
