Question about PC EFI

One thing isn't clear for me do you need an EFI board for netkas pcefi ? (Mine is an GA-P35-DS4 => BIOS board)

 

I can boot it with grub.

But I want it without grub because every time I have to enter the drive (like 80 or 81).

 

When I do it like this:

cd /Volumes/123/pc_efi_v8

./startupfiletool /dev/rdiskXsY ./boot_v8y

dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1

dd if=./guid/boot0 of=/dev/diskX bs=400 count=1

 

It doesn't do anything just a blinkin cursur and the hd led that keeps lighting up (this is booting from HD without grub).

 

My parition list is as follows

disk1s0 GUID

disk1s1 EFI

disk1s2 HFS+ journalled

 

So the rdiskXsY is disk1s2

 

And What's about the gfx string ? Does it mean it reconize my 2600XT (min is a saphire 2600xt 5212MB) ?

Because I applied it in com.apple.boot.plist and I still need the -x option to boot for the first time.

Else I get an crappy image with weird pixels. After installen the radeon drivers from netkas it works fine. But whats the point now of the gfx string if I still need the drivers ?

 

Sorry for all my questions maybe they are already somewhere answered on this forum but I didn't found it yet.

Also I want to say thnx to all the people who made it possible to bring a mac to everybodies home :-).
