hello,

I'm a real noob at this mac thing. But for my work I do mac support :) so i tought it would be a good idea to get used to the mac thing!

Now, i have big problems trying to install it. I will first explain my rig:

Intel Q6600

Asus P5N32-E SLI (yeah, nvidia 680i, i know...)

Evga 8800GTS 640 Superclocked

4Gb ram (Corsair cm2x-1024-6400c4dhx x 4)

and then, i think the problem:

2x Hitachi T7K500 500Gb sata

1x WD 500Gb sata

1x WD 400Gb sata

2x WD raptor 74Gb (raid 0)

So, i tried to install leopard using TOH install. Just gives me some errors but seems to work fine. Afer about 10 min's of install it just stalls at:

Kernel Version:

Darwin Kernel Version 9.0.0 ~~enz

It is just still. Can't crt, alt, del but have to press the reset button. Strange thing is, all the drives just powered off, so you can here them power on again...

Ok, I thought, maybe it is the SATA drives. So I just unplugged all of them to see if i even got in the installation program of the TOH DVD. (yes, it's the 1.4i version)

This just stalls at the same point.

Then I tried to install the tiger version (latest 10.4.9 uphuck DVD). For a long time it just shows a silver mac logo on a white screen. After that I can set the lanuage. Then i press 'go further' and I have to select the drive. I don't see any drive, but I can go to the drive-utility program. Then it loads for a while and it show's all of my drives. I have a spare drive (The WD 400GB sata) with a 100Gb fat32 partition on it. I try to erase it to a HFS journaled disk but then the system stops again.

Now, i heared that the problem mostly is when trying to use a SATA disk, but when all the drive's are plugged off, I should at least get a Install screen @ my toh leo disk.

Can someone please help me with my problem? I've been trying to do this for about a week now, but still no result....

You have to boot the DVD in safe mode using "-x -v" as boot flags. There is an extensive discussion of your chipset in a thread in this forum entitled "680/650i chipset thread" or something similar full of users using the same set-up as you that can help you.
