Wow. Thanks guys for all of your suggestions. I get off work in about an hour...and it's back home for more diligent effort. I'll probably just do a clean install...maybe try the pc efi thing.

I tried the postpatch from the guide that more or less suggested. Still no dice...but I'm not discouraged. Just gotta keep tryin'.

Thanks again for the help...I'll post as things develop.

Theres an easy conclusion to this blinking cursor, get the ToH dvd and run that script.sh and I GUARantee It will work! (if its patched correctly ;) )

QFT

If that postpatcher failed, and then you re-ran the fdisk and .dd/bless routine and its still not working, then something is borked.

UPDATE!

So...I decided to start anew. I'd been fruitlessly plugging away at that PostPatch for too long now.

I wiped the hd clean, and went the way of EFI v7.2 that I Am Me suggested.

I followed the instructions found on netkas.

Everything seemed to go smoothly.

if it boots and shows /com.apple.boot.plist couldn't be found - or smth like that, then it's installed correct

That's what I get on startup now. :thumbsup_anim:

Now to install. Going to use the same dvd I used last time. Should I do anything differently? Do I have to run postpatch afterwords?

Here's hoping this works. I have a good feeling...

Thanks again (I say that every post...but seriously, thanks).

Glad i caught this before i went to bed.

You shouldnt need to post patch since you are running EFI already. but it wouldnt hurt to.

Good luck! :)

about halfway done now......if this works I can look forward to many more hours of being transfixed on snazzy animated progress bars, as opposed to the plain ol' blue ones of windows...I can't wait :thumbsup_anim:Breaking News!Install complete! I've shed the blinking cursor! Now it's replaced by a brief apple screen and continuous restarts. That means I have to apply the postpatch, correct?at least it's not the blinking cursor...is there anything else I should try instead/in addition to the postpatch?

ULTIMATE SUCCESS!!!

I'm now running Leopard!!

Huzzah!

Thanks go out to i am...me for sending me down the shining path to success. more or less for taking a vested interest in my quest, and 3vilution as well.

I encountered three or four more problems along the way (looping restarts, then grey restart screen, then a kernel panic).

I can describe how I got around all of these for anyone struggling.

Tomorrow.

Right now it's time to play around.

Thanks again. This community rocks. :(

EDIT:

Okay...so I didn't play around that much. My sound doesn't work...and I'm sure there's a few other hoops to jump through. I'll probably seek some guidance...tomorrow.

It's 5:30 AM...time for bed.

Hey i am...me. Check your messages...I think I sent you one.

Checked the specs for your computer...

You have a Intel 3945 Pro Wireless card... those are a PITA to work with... you should be able to swap it out for a real airport card. and that will work

and for sound.. did you try AppleAzailaAudio.kext?

Awesome. Got my sound working. Piece of cake.

Just used the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext patcher that I found in this thread.

Probably the easiest step I've had so far.

So...my wireless card is a PITA then, eh? Maybe I should spare myself the trouble and pony up for a new wireless card then.

Yes the wireless card is very hard to work with

this is what your wireless card looks like right??? then you might be able to use it http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebO...;nplm=M8881LL/A

I guess that's what my wireless card looks like. It's internal...and I've never been up in my laptop's guts before.

I've read that the Broadcom BCM43xx line of cards works pretty well...and they're a quarter of the price.

Pretty tempting...

Mold Prince, I feel your pain. It took me 2 weeks and many downloads (painfully slow ones) to get my leopard working. I am glad you are up and running. I've been following the developement of the same wireless card as you have. They are close to getting in working. I believe Javolious, or however you spell it, is the main guy working on it. Other than that I need my PCCard slot working so I have firewire and I'll be thrilled. After I play around with this OS for a while I plan on buying a MAC, when I can afford it. I've already purchased a 5 user pak of Leopard. Makes me feel better that I know Apple has gotten some money from me for now. The best news is I only paid $169. Heck, my 1 lic copy of Windows Vista Ultimate was $199. Go Apple.

1 more thing. I bought a Hawking wireless card for $59 to get my wireless working.
