onidavin
Howdy! I'm working on putting together a list for a dual-boot Hackintosh I'm trying to build. Using the hardware compatibility lists in the wiki and various forum posts, I arrived at this list so far: Case: ?? Mobo: D975XBX2 (BAD AXE 2) Proc: Intel Core 2 Quad QX6700 HD: Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD 150GB Video: ?? Wireless: U.S. Robotics PCI Adapter 5417 WLAN 125Mbit I plan on using an external drive for non-application storage, so I don't think the low capacity of the drive will be an issue. Before buying anything, I wanted to check with more experienced people. Additionally, I need some help deciding on a case and video card to use. I plan on using it for some gaming as well, but I have heard there are some issues with 512 cards. Thoughts? onidavin
Hate to bump, but I figured I'd give it one more rotation before it falls silent, forever Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73663-hardware-feedback/#findComment-522116 Share on other sites
vlad1966
I'd choose a mobo w/a Intel P35 chipset - even though I've head the Bad Axe 2 works pretty well, the are more current solutions out there that support 45nm Penryn's, like a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P. Raptor only? not alot of storage space - I just bought a pair of WD WD7500AAKS's 750GB drives for $150 eaqch @ NewEgg. Vid card - nVidia 7600GT 256MB (low end), 800GTS 320MB (medium end) 8800GTX 760MB (High End). Don't skimp on the PSU & get the biggest case you can afford (better cooling than small cases). Lots of choices out there . . . Have fun. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73663-hardware-feedback/#findComment-522163 Share on other sites
