dreamer81
I am using the brazilMAC patched DVD. my computer's dvd drive is connected to the mobo via an IDE cable. I cannot install os x, since it hangs at the grey apple logo screen. Is that because my DVD drive is connected via IDE? Hagar
Without more details, the first thing you need to do is hit f8 & enter -v for a verbose boot so you can see what the error is it's halting at. Installing from an IDE attached DVD drive shouldn't be a problem in itself, so I'm guessing the problem lies either with you hardware config or your BIOS settings. GinKage
You may still use flat image installation method. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73228-install-from-dvd-drive-connected-via-ide/#findComment-517320 Share on other sites
Objection
First thing to remember is that DVDs take a VERY long time to boot (upwards of 10 minutes) and some hardware will require you to boot the dvd in safe mode "-x -v". dreamer81
first of all, what is flat image installation?? I tried many bios settings. I even upgraded my bios to the latest firmware.... I see the folowing lines in the console before it says mac framework successfully initialized Extension "com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform" has immediate dependencies on both com.apple.kernel and com.apple.kpi components use only one stylecom.apple.kpi.unsupported: Undefined symbol set: _bsd_set_dependency_capable So I am guessing that it has to do with my ACPI configuraiton in the BIOS.... I have AMI bios, latest version..... FireballXL5
I had problems because my DVD was a slave on the only IDE channel on my otherwise SATA mobo. Making it Master fixed immediately. Not sure if this is relevant in your setup.
