Jas 10.4.8 Sse2 ,Graphics help, Please!

hello members

I had loaded the above OSX 10.4.80jas sse2 sse3 mac intel ppf1 ppf2 and all was good (network and basic graphics)till I installed a new driver fo the graphics(obviously the wrong one), and now it does't even come to the desktop.

The specs of my machine

The osx is loaded as a dual boot setup, all ok.

P4, Albatron PX865PE PRO, a Ati Radeon9600 XT graphics card

I had installed this driver ATI_9600_C008_AGP , and after that I could not get to the desktop anymore.

 

Lets see if someone can help???

there are topics for this already on the forum.. First you need to remove your callisto driver, which is causing the problem. Hit f8 on startup & try entering -x at the prompt (for safemode) if this doesn't get you to the desktiop, try again with -s (singleuser) which will get you a command prompt from which you can move the offending driver so you can boot. if this too fails, you need to use the terminal off your install DVD (by booting the dvd & selecting "terminal" from the utilities menu) or use kismus if you have it. I don't remember the details of which files you need to move/remove, you can find that elsewhere on this forum, or possibly on omni's blog

Thanks for that!

I did a reinstall and the setup is up and running.The resolution is still the 1028x728(or something similar). Is there a chance to get it to the 1920x1200 which is what is suitable for my screen(24") ?

Also there are some sort of faults in the display as there are some patches/spots on the screen from time to time3-4mm in size. Those do disappear again without any interference.
