I have an intel prescott 3.4/intel 865PE chip set and the install of 8f1099 osx went fine with the default Maxxuss patch, and I used the normal mach_kernel (the default) to boot.

How can I know osx is using SSE2 (no NX) or SSE3 (no NX)?

When I check system profile in osx gui, it lists SSE3 as supported feature of CPU, does that mean it is using SSE3?

If i use mach_kernel.orig (which req NX) to boot, OS not even load, is mach_kernel.nonx the same as the default? what else can I use to boot in order to get SSE3?

thanks for your help!

You need to find and run an app called cpu-x (in XP) which will give you a fairly definitive picture of your machine - including the CPU features. I have a 3.0 Ghz P4 Prescott CPU and I am running the normal kernel with both the CPUID and No NX patches applied from Maxxuss. I beleive, though I am not certain, that the Prescott CPU line are all SSE3. You should still check this out, as I may be wrong.

thanks, I had cpu-z on XP and it reported sse3 is supported, I just want to know whether my 8f1099 is using sse3 (no NX) instead of using sse2 (no NX)
