Various ac97 & HD Audio chips can be made to work, as can USB sound devices. There is also very limited support for 1371 chipset based cards (typically soundblaster 128) and a c-media card (8137? I forget). Several projects have attempted to extend support to the emu10k based cards, but afaik there is no development progressing on the front at the moment.
