taka4
I have Leopard installed on Thinkpad T60 and running well except wifi. The Wifi device seems to be recognized normally since it is displayed in SysProfile and airport icon is shown at the top of my screen. I tried to Turn on the airport through this icon and also tried going to the Network preferences and pressing the "Turn on Airport" button, but no effect. Thanks for any suggestions. Sincerely, Taka4 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/70917-cannot-turn-airport-on/ Share on other sites
Brywalker
Ok. I had the same problem, and I don't remember EXACTLY how I fixed it, I will give you a round about. It would not work through the icon. You have to go into network and go to the airport device. Turn on the airport and DONT DO ANYTHING ELSE. Apply. Close. Go back in, if it didn't work do it again. Just make sure you don't set up anything else at the same time. Just turn on the airport, it will stick. When it does, then set up the networks and you should be good to go. It will work from the icon after that. It's just getting it to enable that first time. Experiment with stuff like that. It should work. I have tried it but it didnt work yet. I found one thing curious. I have my hardwired device inactive from gear dropdown in Network Pref and tried to turn on the AirPort. I thought hardwired device kept inactive even after press the Turn AirPort On button but everytime I pressed it, hardwired went active. There might be mismatch somewhere. One more thing I found is that wifi is working and could get internet access while AirPort is still indicated as Turned off. Diagnostics.tiff I am not sure where to go next. diamondsw
I just installed an Atheros 5006 (used to be in my MacBook Pro) in my Eee 901. Ran into the exact same problem, and the solution posted above worked. Thanks! MGJulius
My friend had this happen on his dell b130. Try turning the wireless on via the keyboard (Fn + F2). Maybe that will work Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/70917-cannot-turn-airport-on/#findComment-868702 Share on other sites
