CompCrasher86
I am on to a hunch, and if I am correct I was wondering if anybody could help me fix my problem. I installed OSX triple boot with XP and Vista and almost everything is working natively except for my video card. The max resolution it runs at is 1024x768 and I can see visual artifacts (for lack of a better word) such as green and purple multi lined borders when I minimize windows. Also, programs that I would guess may need exclusive use of the graphics card crash either upon launch, or a couple seconds in. Some of these programs are: Safari (Can access very few pages like google.com but not the search)( When it closes out I get a report to apple box)iTunes (Dock icon bounces three times but no launch DVD Player (Dock icon bounces three times but no launch Chess (Crashes whenever I try to move a piece) Dictionary (Crashes whenever I Choose a word) My graphics card is an ATI Radeon X700 256mb AGP card and my monitor is an LG Flatron L1780U connected with a DVI cable. I would like to be able to go up to my monitors max resolution (1280x1024), and listen to my iTunes music while browsing the web! Thanks in advance-Matt Ohh btw I took a capture of the log file OSX was going to send to Apple so I will post that as an attachment because it is very long Also I have tried installing Opera, Firefox, and Netscape through DMG files off a flash drive and all install fine and none of them will launch. I see them apear in the dock for a split second and then they dissapear...Using Rosetta stone freezes up the application regardless of what I'm doing I did remove the apple TCPMCA kext to make it run faster, this can't be the problem can it? also if it helps, I am using deadmoos version Edit: -I am Using OSX 10.4.1 Launched by Vista's bootloader -Reading through the log file I think that the problem is the Window Manager keeps crashing. Could this be due to poor graphics card drivers? applecrash.rtf Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/70311-graphics-problems/ Share on other sites
Slice
Yes, your crashes seems to be caused by hardwareOpenGL that is switch on but no works. Simple solution - delete ATIRadeon9700.kext and use softwareOpenGL. This way you can't have DVD playback and play chess. About Safari - you need to download new AdobeFlash. One more problem - may be you need to change AppleSMBIOS. Radeon X700 PCIe very well supported (what is your DeviceID?). But for AGP I am trying to make a good AGP driver. Try it! http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...st&id=17377 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/70311-graphics-problems/#findComment-504812 Share on other sites
CompCrasher86
Ahh of course, that makes complete sense. However with me being noob-ish, there are a couple things I still need help with. AGPGART 1. I downloaded AGPGart (Your link), and put the kext into the extensions folder after deleting ATIRadeon9700.kext 2. I have a feeling I need to put my device ID into the .kxt but I can't find where 3. My Device ID is "0x5e4b" according to the OSX system profiler After rebooting my profiler still shows no loaded kext (Screenshot below) screen.tiff Safari 1. I was able to browse to the adobe site and download the .zip with the DMG for "Intel Macs" with ease 2. Once the download is mounted, I drag the install file to my desktop 3. When I click on the "Install Flash Player 9 OSX", the icon bounces on the dock once then dissapears SMBIOS 1. Did some googling but still cannot understand what you mean by this Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/70311-graphics-problems/#findComment-506500 Share on other sites
