Hi there,

I read about this great new feature giving you the ability to play VIDEO_TS folders from frontrow.

There is one problem tough! My DVDPlayer.app instantly crashes when I either mount a ISO that contains a dvd or when I try to open a VIDEO_TS folder.

This all resulting in Frontrow shutting down as it uses dvdplayer.app and me not being able to watch VIDEO_TS folders. This problem does not appear when opening a "normal dvd"

Any sugestions??? I'm running Brazilmac's leo

Try install the AppleSMBIOS.kext with version 1.0.11.

THNX, I'll try that asap,

But before I try, do you have any suggestions on where to find the replacement applesmbios.kext?

Here you go!

Backup old kext before apply this one. I did try 1.0.1 and 1.0.6, didn't work out. But, 1.0.11 works. Try it, good luck! Let me know the result.

AppleSMBIOS.kext_v1.0.11.zip

Sorry to bother with such a n00b question but...

...how do I go about updating the AppleSMBIOS.kext ???

I did a search but the method I found didn't seem to work properly (came out of a Tiger related F.A.Q.)

Some help would be greatly appreciated!

1. backup your original AppleSMBIOS.kext in /System/Library/Extensions, then delete it (authentication required, just give ur password)

2. drag-and-drop the AppleSMBIOS.kext (v1.0.11) to /System/Library/Extensions (authentication required, just give ur password)

3. open Terminal.app in Utility

4. type "sudo -s" (give ur password)

5. cd /System/Library/Extensions

6. chown -R root:wheel AppleSMBIOS.kext

7. chmod -R 755 AppleSMBIOS.kext

8. cd ..

9. rm -rf Extensions.*

10. reboot with -f flag

Thanks heaps for that. I'll give that a go.

  • 1 year later...

2 years later, I just Hacked a MSi Nettop 100 using Chameleon-1.0.11 and MSIWindosx86.iso. upped to 10.5.6, everything is great except for DVD Player crashing when I try to load a video_ts folder (or try to access on in FrontRow).

Any current, or updated advice? I have AppleSMBIOSEFI.kext 1.1.1 and 1.0.14
