hotmonkeayc
Hey, I was wondering what the best way to connect to Leopard (or Tiger for that matter) is from an XP machine? I'm assuming some sort of VNC server/client, but there's so many out there I don't know where to start. Can anyone give me any suggestions? Thanks! Danyel
Hi hotmon: I don't have Leopard (10.5) yet, but I'm using VNC for Windows and Tiger (10.4). I'm able to have Windows connect to Tiger and vice versa. Windows (Server and Client): RealVNC Mac OS X Tiger (Server): Vine Server Mac OS X Tiger (Client): Chicken of the VNC I'm curious to know what Leopard users are using. Please write back when you can. --danyel
errandwolfe
Also if you need a more complete client a-la PCAnywhere type solution, Timbuktu Pro by Netopia works fantastically for both Windows and Mac clients. They also just released an update to version 8.7 (Mac Side) to ensure 10.5 compatibility.
hotmonkeayc
Hey thanks. Vine Server (2.2) seems to work great in Leopard. Quick question though, is there any way to lock the console screen while VNC'd in? It'd be best if I was connecting remotely that the person sitting in front of the terminal couldn't see what I was doing. Any ideas??
manitoba98
Doesn't the built-in "Screen Sharing" in the Sharing prefs use VNC, as well? That would save you from having to install anything additional on the OS X side.
