capran Posted August 20, 2005 Share Posted August 20, 2005 I decided to give it a try, and lo and behold it boots and runs! Few caveats though. No sound and no UDMA at first, I think I got those working thanks to this forum (although can't seem to get sound to load up automatically after a restart, have to kextload it again...) And no driver for the Marvell Yukon Gig-e. :/ So I hooked up the firewire to my Mac Mini and set up connection sharing and that works great, but I need the firewire for my external drive too. Also, I can't get my Geforce 6800GT to go above 1024x768 with the "Graphics Mode"=whatever line. I have a Dell 2005FPW which can do 1680x1050 so it doesn't look so nice at low res. (And of course video is slow since its just VESA. I see there's not much progress getting a working accelerated driver up yet...) Also can't get iTunes to work, I'll be looking into that too. Any one else using a Shuttle? Or have suggestions for me? edit: Figured out the sound, just needed to copy AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext to the Extensions folder from where it was (a plug-in for AppleAC97Audio.kext) And I got Maxxuss's patch. iTunes loads now, but is unusable. Sound is all garbled, plays for a half second at a time all distorted, then beach balls, rinse repeat. Strangely, if I play the very same MP3 with Quicktime it works, only with very minor stuttering. capran Posted February 28, 2006 Author Share Posted February 28, 2006 Well I got 10.4.4 running over the weekend, but otherwise no improvement. No Marvel Yukon, and I even tried 3 different PCI NICs with no success! Netgear GA311 (Realtek 8169) Netgear with LNE100 Linksys with RTL8139 I edited the Info.plists for all of these and inserted the 0xNNNNNNNN numbers for the first and second and still no go. And I tried the Macvidia driver with the 0xNNNNNNNN for my card but it wouldn't load, hangs up during driver load. I understand you need Tulip for LNE100, but the darwin driver I found needed to be compiled and I don't have xcode or gcc/make installed, I used the hacked 10.4.4 restore disc. Help! Worked to install though. Any ideas?
