Last night I installed upchuck 1.3 OSX 10.4.9 on my wife's computer.

It's a Shuttle XPC FB50 P4 2.3GHz w/ SSE2. Two HDDs: primary 120GB Seagate ATA w/ WinXP; secondary 40GB IBM w/ OSX.

The guide I followed for the dual boot procedure is from here and is overall an excellent guide on dual booting Win XP and OSX.

Now, I'm not sure what version of OSX Xeijin installed but here's the problem I ran into:

- after installing, I could not get OSX to boot

- the system booted into WinXP by default if the install DVD wasn't in

- I edited boot.ini as outlined in the guide

- When I rebooted, I had the menu with 'Win XP' and 'Mac OSX' but when selecting OSX, I received the "Chain booting error"

- tried this a couple of times to see what the deal is

- Finally went back to install and realized when using the disk utility that the default type for the partition was "GUID Part..." blah blah blah... at any rate, the 2nd HDD (OSX drive) didn't have an MBR on it

- I changed the partition to an MBR and then proceeded with the install

- Voila! Now dual boot works!

This is my 1st install of OSX so I'm super stoked and my wife's jaw just about dropped when she saw it running on her comp ;)

Now the challenge is to get it running on mine. Some problems as you can see :(
