Hei. problem with booting native? Me too. I back by using timemachine, and after that machine boot only with dvd in.

You need 4 things:

1) ToH disk. 2) disk tools, inside ToH, and You must know how to use it. - Mount and unmount disk.

(be smart: disk tools mean tools inside ToH, i do not know - remember - it's name in english)

3) terminal:

1. /usr/misc/script.sh YOURDISKNAME <- script inside in ToH disk

2. diskutil list

fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX (X=disk number)

p

f 1 (space between, 1 means partition number)

write

y (works after reboot)

exit

Ok. 1) is script which fix your distro, 2) is that You make your mbr in activate.

Your machine is pc. It starts from bios and bios wait to see active mbr.

The problem is, that You can not fix mrb, when disk is mounted.

I have D945gntlkr, 4 sata disk and my machine boot directly from 1. disk which is disk sata0

bios is setting "ahci" , not emulate ide. - This for Your info.

Now: format disk, mbr and normal format (name: no space or scandi in disk's name)

Unmount disk

make mbr active using 2.

Mount disk

Then You can use timemachine back, now it see the disk

Fix disk using script 1 in ToH (<- Remember: mbr is _not_ fix mounted disk)

Unmount disk

make mbr again active using 2.

reboot and after that : You have machine, which boot direct from mbr disk without dvd.

This works with me. Hope this help. - Tuure -.-

Did the install, but it refuses to boot. Even used the script on the disk to install the darwin boot loader, but it still doesnt want to behave. I am forced to boot using the DVD (wait for it to time out and the DVD's boot loader hands off). Any idea on how to fix this?

I am using this DVD as well, and the instalation goes fine, but when I boot, I get a

System config file '/com.apple.Boot.plist' not found

I can boot off the disk, and go into terminal, or even boot -s and I can browse the drive and see all the stuff there, but it wont boot from it.

I have gone through and tried everything I know how to do. Anyone have any suggestions?

Boot fix

I'm not getting anywhere with the boot fix on Terminal. I keep getting several errors.

Can anyone post here a boot script fix? (I couldn't find the one on ToH's DVD. Yes! I searched a lot for it)

Thanks

OK I fixed it. I used the ToS install DVD RC2, booted into the installer as normal. re-installed but used Disk utill as following:

Select entire hard drive of destination -> 1 Partition -> Double check to make sure MBR style -> format -> Install as normal

Reboot and make sure the boot loader still isnt working corectly

boot back into DVD using "-X -V" switches -> open up disk utility and make sure volume (in my case "Leopard") is displayed -> open up term and execute the /usr/misc/script.sh VOLUMENAME command -> watch it throw text at you with some errors and other stuff -> do it another one or two more times just to make sure

Well thats how I got it to work. My guess its a combination of unsupported hardware (ICH8, USB, etc acts up from time to time) and some oddities here and there causing this to happen and sometimes fail to apply.

P.S. forgot to say a few things. I encountered two oddities when doing this. Once my Leopard partition didnt show up and some hard drives were missing. Just reboot and try again if that happens. If you get an unable to write error in Disk Utility, but you see the hard drive, just quit Disk Utility, wait a few moments, and try again.

yes, i got the same problem as you. I try to install ToH RC2 SSE2_SSE3 support and got this problem.

you see my post here: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=75155

shanny i don't know what the problem is ..

and royston, have you tried the script to make leopard bootable ?

start from cd and open terminal, type:

cd /usr/misc/ 'press enter'

./script.sh VolumeName and press enter.

you should see the script doing stuff.

then maybe do it again to be sure,

then it should boot, or there is some bigger problem.

No, it is just instruction how to fix boot with ToH, the problem does not relate boot into ToH

Please help me fix this problem?

T43 users, are you getting Leopard work on your laptop?
