Dumb questions

Hi everyone,

 

I am learning how to do this. I want to get the Conexant sound card to work on my Compaq C500 laptop.

 

I read this in another post, I downloaded the AppleHDAPatcher_v1.16.app. When I click on the app, it's says "Please drag and drop your linux codec dump into the AppleHDA Patcher icon". I went to this site as was told http://psykopat.free.fr/apple/AppleHDA/ to look for the codec, the site looks like a ftp site, there is a folder with the name Conexant, I open the folder there is a file named 0x14f15045.txt, which fits my sound card. However it's a text file, I can read it, is this the codec? How do I get it to the AppleHDA.app?
