I have OSX 10.4.10 - OSX 10.4.9 Uphuck 1.4i-r2 + KoolKal 10.4.10 upgrade.

I used to have Uphuck 1.3 10.4.9:

With Uphuck 1.3 I had all kinds of aditional pics and desktop backgrounds.

Now I don't have them (1.4i version does not install them)

So my question is:

How can I retrieve those pics from the old old UPHACK 1.3 installation DVD, over to my current OSX 10.4.10?

I know its not a biggie.. but still I want it!

I'm on windows right now so I can read my installer disk, but if you have pacifist, you might be able to grab your pics from Uphuck's 1.3 disk by extracting them from"/Volumes/Mac OS X Install CD/System/Installation/Packages/Essentials.pkg". If that's not it, it should be something real close to that. Hope this helps.

Okay, I'm on my Hack right now and I couldn't have led you further off the right path.

Open pacifist and locate your 1.3 installer disk (assuming you have it in your drive)

Highlight the installer disk and then navigate to system>installation>packages>10.4.9.intel.uphuck.pkg

Click on 'open' and then navigate down to 'Library'

Then open the folder marked 'Desktop Pictures' and you're there.

Funny... now I'm on a PC... Im sorry that Im such a newbie but what is "pacifist"? Is it a "virtual drive", like DAEMON TOOLS on PC?Actually I have the Uphuck install DVD, and the image file... I'll try to follow your walk-through... next time I'll be near the Hack.BTW did you see my Xbench and Geekbench scores?I did a small OC (2.7Ghz) and now it has a better score than a Mac pro 2.6! ;) P.SSo since the Uphuck 1.4i install DVD didn't include the dektop backgrounds... are there any other goodies missing?Maybe I'm not getting the "full experience" from my Mac Tiger?

Pacifist is a shareware software (you can use if for as long as you want but it has a nag screen that shows up at first until you pay for it) that can dig into any folder on an installer disk and extract particular pkg's or individual files to any directory you want. Once you download it and play with it a bit, you'll find it very intuitive...similar to windows xp explorer.

When you navigate to the folder you want, you can extract the entire folder to a partition on your hard drive or you can extract each or all of the individual picture files right to the /Library/Desktop Pictures folder in OSX. Try it, you'll like it.
