alvin777
Hi. Is there another name for the hackintosh? Something that doesn't have anything that sounds negative about it (unlike the word "hack"). I'm asking because hack could scare off some people who'd like to try it as soon as they hear the word 'hack'. Thanks in advance.
bibendum
Well, I call my quad hackintosh a Quackintosh... Seriously - if they're scared, they should just buy a Mac. Hackintoshes are no place for scaredy cats... Patrick
Danyel
Personally, I like call them OSx86 PC's (generic PC's that are running Mac OS X). I don't care for the phrase "Hackintosh" although it is somewhat descriptive (it often takes some 'hacking' to get stuff to work). Specifically, I refer to my computer at home as OSx86 mPC --danyel
Templeton Peck
I've heard of it referred to as an iHack; a spoof on the name iMac. Also, OSx86 PC, as Danyel mentions. I also remember some guy on eBay selling P4-based hackintoshes as a PowerMac G6. I sometimes call mine a Wacintosh (turn the M in Macintosh upside-down) -- think Wario. But Hackintosh seems to be the most common, and it gets right to the point.
