devDelay
I just got the exact same laptop the other day and I just got macosx_10.4.3_8f1111a_JaS_Patch_4.2b to work with my toshiba satellite a75-2112. I first created a 6gb af partition. Then I just used vmware to install. When I tried the burnt DVD it said a bunch of errors and then sat at root device failed. Vmware installed it just fine and now I just have to setup the chain boot method to dual boot, I think. The only other issues I had are that my sound and wireless networking are not working. Neither device is recognized at the moment. I think I may be able to solve the sound problem but I might have to replace the network card with something else. If anyone else can help with these issues it would be greatly appreciated. RevRoy1
could you please point me to the guide you used, as I can't seem to figure the vmware thing out. devDelay
I used the guide at http://www.profit42.com/guides.php?id=1 to help me make the partition and then use the acronis os selector. I like it a little bit better than the chain0 method which I used on my desktop. I didn't use a guide for vmware tho. Its pretty easy....just get the latest vmware and setup a custom machine. I just started the new machine and then selected the screen so I could then press F2 to edit the bios options. I set the machine to boot up with the install DVD. Stopped the machine....put in the DVD....started it back up and then once inside the installer I selected the disk utility in order to format my partition for HFS+. It should install without a hitch. Its all pretty easy. I believe I have found a method to solve my audio issue but until atheros is supported I have no wireless connection. Hope that helps. devDelay
I have identified my sound device ID as 4341 and the vendor is 1002. I have tried editing AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext but I couldn't get sound to work. I am not even sure if I should be editing that kext. I also edited ATIRadeon.kext and ATIRadeon9700 with my device id of 5835 vendor id 1002. No luck there either. I also noticed that I couldn't get my DVD drive to work. I tried applying MAXXUSS patches for DVD playback and ATI Video but it says I have SSE3 and do not need either. Should I edit kexts in order to gain support for these devices? Please help. Thanks.
