Ok I remember reading a forum someone posted getting all excited that they got x86 running on there p35 board. Im wondering if p35 boards are problem free except for the regular set backs, like audio chipset, LAN chipset ? Do I need a ICH9 SB or does the ICH9R work just the same ? If you have anything else to add to this subject be sure to post that here to, as I am hopeing to make a guide on purchasing these motherboards with the information I gather. Also if you could recommend boards different boards that are better or worse for overclocking, ease of use, and compatibility.

I've been using an Intel DP35DP board for a few months now (sig for specs). No major problems but for the Sigmatel 9271D onboard sound and the Gigabit LAN. As far as I know there aren't any solutions for those right now.

Not sure what you mean about ICHR9SB and ICHR9B though. Care to elaborate? When installing Vista I just used the drivers in the floppy that came with the mobo.

Hi there,

I have a *fully* working Gigabyte DS3 P35 Dq6 (rev 1.0, F6 BIOS).

Here is my install method:

JaS 10.4.8 DVD

JaS.10.4.9.Combo.Update.Intel.SSE3

koolkal 10.4.10 combo update intel sse3 only

AppleSMBIOS 1.0.6 fix for Photoshop - 'About this Mac' shows wrong CPU speed but that doesn't hurt.

Software updates from Apple

For audio - AppleAzaliaAudio.kext.zip

For LAN - RTL1xxx_1.02.pkg

For Graphics ( I have a 7600GS) - NVinject009 - all resolutions available. Using it at 1680x1050 with my VX2025WM. Beautiful colors :)

SATA working after setting ACHI in the BIOS. RAID not working. Been using this setup as my primary OS for a month now. Heavy photoshop user. System is *very* stable and I have no issues whatsoever (except for getting used to Mac shortcuts ;) )

If you need any of the above mentioned kexts for Audio/LAN/Graphics let me know. For the Install DVD and updates, the Green Demon is your friend

Xbench score of 144 with 2GB RAM and E6750 at stock. Could be better but I use Seagate disks which I heard are not great with the Macs.

What I mean the SB is "south bridge" Like a 945gc board would have a ICH7 and the p35's have ICH9R southbridge chips. Thanks for you additions I was pretty sure that the giga DS3's were pretty much fine for the x86. What would be great would to have people just throw out the model of their working p35 mobo's so we can get a list astromo_me had a perfect example for that. Thanks
