Allistah Posted January 13, 2006 Share Posted January 13, 2006 I have a Dell Inspiron 9300. I am able to boot off the dvd just fine and start the install. It just won't see any drives when it gets to the point where I have to tell it which partition to install on. fatal error Posted January 13, 2006 Share Posted January 13, 2006 I had just the same problem. To fix this use the disk utility by selecting it from the top bar, and create partitions for OS X. But backup all necesary data before repartitioning the drive! When you used disk utility, were all of the partitions grayed out? Mine were. I'm backing up the data now and will blow away all partitions and let OSX partition the drive. Then I'll install XP afterrwards. I'll let you know how it goes... UPDATE: Blowing away all the partitions and letting OSX create them fixed the problem. It's installing now. zizux Posted January 13, 2006 Share Posted January 13, 2006 They aren't showing up cause osx86 doesn't support either your chipset or sata (probably it) I can't install osx on an internal drive on my Dell Precision 370 because of this, but I have it installed on an external usb hard drive.
