one view type for one folder

did you notice that if you change the view mode in a window (icon/list/column/coverflow), it will change

the view of everything you double click in.

for example lets say you double click Macintosh HD. There you want a list view.

so you click the list. Now if you double click "Users", it will display in list view too!!

I hope there is still a way to assign one view type for a certain folder. did I miss the trick to make it work?

 

Also when you mount a dmg with an EULA inside, notice the X in background is the panther one!!

Set your folder to the view you always want it to be, go to the View Options (command-J) and click the box at the top that says "Always open in whatever view".
