Medion is a German company, I think...could be owned by the Aldi people, who knows. Bang for the buck is pretty good though.

A friend bought a tower from Aldi (a Medion) about 3 years ago, hasn't had any trouble with it. Another buddy picked up their new tower a few weeks ago for $499. He's pretty happy with it so far. We'll have to see if anyone goes for this and tries OS X on it.

I had no idea Aldi sold laptops...Good price for that though.

It's a "special buy," a few weeks ago was an AMD tower, and I just missed the electric blower/vac for yardwork. They usually have digital cameras and other assorted odd stuff. The computers only come out every couple of years, and they don't usually have them for long. They're a good deal if you have an Aldi nearby.

Aldi have been selling Medion laptops for some time and the easiest way to snag one is at the opening of a new Aldi store. I have checked them out in the past and though the fascia's finish isn't the best, the internal specs are usually drool-some - not least because German students are more demanding of quality than most and my German friends think it insultingly weird that anyone would sell a Vista laptop with anything less than 2gigs of memory and weirder still that Brits and Americans put up with such things; it's unlikely you're buying {censored}. That said, I am of a paranoid nature - read a review if you can find one. You will probably have to get google to translate it from German to English. I would pay particular attention to battery life in this day and age. Installing OS X - it's always a gamble. If you don't like gambling, read the Dell or HP laptop threads on insanelymac. Or, hey, buy an Apple! They're lovely :D
