Hi guys

Is heat really such a huge issue on the MBP? Some guys tell me its really bad, others says its ok. Others say their system runs at 2400*c and set their front lawn on fire.

I love the MBP, but I need a laptop that will last a few years without frying. I need to be able to use it outdoors without it shutting down because of heat. I wont use it on my lap very much... (im a fan of actual productivity, not looking cool on the couch)

So Im asking the experts: Is it REALLY something to worry about? I dont mind if its hot to the touch; I can handle it. My question is: can the MBP handle it?

Thanks!

I doubt it would be much hotter than the Powerbooks of old...

They were hot, but not too hot

I have a MBP myself and this is my opinion about it:

The Mbp gets hot, no doubt about it (mostly battery) but it's not seriously hot.

I don't mind it being hot, I don't use it on my lap either and I have no problems working on it. When putting it on my lap it's still very doable heat-wise.. It won't get very hot as-long as you don't do computer-intensive tasks like playing a game. (in Vista it does tend to get VERY hot while gaming, but the laptop itself can manage, at least, I've gamed on it several times for a couple of hours straight and it's still working without any noticeable damage)

Regarding buying that laptop, it's the most awesome machine I've ever owned (ok it's the second I've ever owned.. :( only 16 years old here) But I haven't regret working my entire holiday for it just so I could buy it!)
