evopanop
As the topic states - Any release that will work on my system? Dell Precision 530 Intel 860 PCI/AGP Chipset Dual Intel Xeon CPUs @ 2.0GHz 1GB (2x 512MB) RDRAM NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT GPU via AGP 4x 1x ATA HDD 2x SCSI HDDs Analog Devices AD1885 AC97 Audio Controller I know, I know... it's a REALLY old computer. Anyone have any idea if there is a release that will work on this ancient thing? Edit: I would also like to add that the Intel Processor ID Utility reports the following: Intel Xeon CPU 2.0GHz Speed 400MHz System Bus 512KB L2 Cache 8KB L1 Cache SSE & SSE2 Supported Hyper-Threading Technology Does not support: Intel Virtualization Technology Intel 64 Architecture Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology SSE3 or SSE4 Execute Disable Bit Enhanced Halt State Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/67596-any-release-that-will-work-on-my-system/ Share on other sites

Anyone have any idea if there is a release that will work on this ancient thing? To be honest, i really quite doubt it... I think about the only way that you could get it working is trying a VMWare install, and then getting that to work 'natively'... But even that could be tricky...Searching for your chipset returns nothing useful, so i'd say you're pretty much on your own in this one :S Have you tried anything so far? JaS' 10.4.8 w/ ppf1 + ppf2 has been quite 'kind' on me in the past... evopanop
I have not yet tried any of the releases on this machine. Kinda wanted to see what everyone thought, first, lol. I may give 10.4.8 a try, though.
