oSxFr33k
It will be either Asus or GIgabyte. I went to an Apple store today and they let me boot my 2008 mandriva one Linux Live CD. I ran lspci -n and got a list of controllers, manufacturers and chipsets. The chipset currently being used is the PM965 controller ICH8. I see a huge thread on the ASus P35 chipset board the P5K deluxe. So what am I to do? It would seem that the P965 chipset is the most compatible since its the one used on the MacBook Pro. Not sure what they are using on the MAC PRO desktop. Probably the same. I also read in one of the posts that they mention the P965 is better than the P975X chipset and the ICH9 controller is no way better than the ICH8. Any opinions will be accepted. Also looking at Giga but it seems the Asus board P5K deluxe is the winner and maybe ready for later versions of leopard when the new mac hardware comes out. It probably will be the G33 and P35 chipset boards.
Guest lord of the view
I have a Gigabyte 965P S3, which has the ICH8 south bridge. It works with 10.4.9 and 10.4.10 and "hopefully" will support 10.5. The only things that I noticed is that you have to edit the Marvel Yucon kext to get the internet working. But still that takes all of 30 seconds.
