I have been reading around and I know that Athlon XP 3200+ (Barton Core) only has SSE and no SSE2 nor SSE3... making it unable to run OSX86..

However.. Reading the HCL for 10.4.1 Builds, it says under the CPU section that:

SSE2 - All SSE2 CPU need a patch for Rosetta

AMD Opteron (sledgehammer)

AMD Dual Opteron works fine SMP

AMD Athlon 64 and FX (newcastle, clawhammer, winchester, barton) barton shouldnt be listed here without SSE2,and earlier FX51/FX53 is SledgeHammer like Opteron - use Maxxuss latest patch: in v0.5c, do not select SSE2 pre-patched binaries in second install screen. XP Barton 3200+ works fine

Is this really possible? Reading this just made me go throught the whole installation process and just end up with 'illegal instruction' errors once the system tries to load 'kernel extensions'.

Is there a patch or something that needs to be done prior to installation of the image? Or is there another workaround?

Thanks in advance!

A native install install will not work with a barton core, only virtual PC emulators like QEMU or PearPC works with a SSE only CPU(booth slow).
