Ok folks, ive read and read and posted once or twice, scowered the internet and talked to some folks, and im wanting people who have this laptop to tell me their successes. I have a 2.0GHz Core Duo with 2GB 667MHz ram, broadcom Netxtreme 5752 nic, intel 3945abg wireless, synaptics touch pad, 512mb Nvidia GeforceGo 7900 GTX, sigmatel 9220 audo working using HDA patch 1.16 and the 9220-C file on this forum. Dell 355 bluetooth.

I had win xp installed and used acronis disk dir to repartition the drive. Installed Osx 10.4.9 up and running using Uphuck 1.4r2. Patched my video card with a modified bios found over at osxscene's webiste forum by gotch. running titan driver with full QE and CI support. Patched nic with info based on some forums here with one that was up for download. no wireless still, but thats ok im probably gonna buy a new wireless care neway. have full audio through speakers, havent tried the headphones yet or input. Full bluetooth functoinality. Touchpad works great. Modified the en0 patch to get fcp studio2 working correctly. all works but havent tested video on it yet.

Only a few problems and am wondering if anyone has been able to get it working or if anyone has input.

1. Sleep-used the patch in terminal to change hibernate, but still cant get it into sleep. someone here recommends using nvidiaefi driver files cause they work better, but macvidia's site is down for the past few months and no downloads. so if anyone has those please upload them here or send them to me thanks..

2. Core support. I read here somewhere that a guy has full dual core support in bios and in osx. im wanting to get that working cause i think it would help out on the video rendering as well. He said that some kernels respond differently and he did some fn=x patching on the bood setting. please let me know if anyone has got this to work too

I appreciate all your help. i have found this forum to be extremely useful and the scene is really developing quite quickly.

Hi,

I have exactly the same laptop as you and I'm looking to do this too. But I'm kinda scared i'll screw up the computer a bit. There seems to be some hard work gone on your part to get it working. I have tried linux (kubuntu 7.04), but I reckon mac os x will be the one I'm after, (looking for leopard later on so i can boot camp windows etc). But the small issue of the wi-fi card not working is really putting me off, as I use my laptop a lot for internet.

I did wonder whether drivers for linux would work on mac os x as mac os x is based on unix? I have had my wi-fi card working fine under kubuntu 7.04.

As for enabling dual core, have you seen this thread/post: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=41775

As you are using the same laptop as me I'd love some help / advice if you have the time.

thanks

Just FYI the link you posted is actually forcing single core so if you follow that you can boot but the OS only sees one core. I have played with the FN= settings but I always get terrible sync issues where I can move the mouse and the 30 seconds later the cursor actually moves but by an unpredictable amount.

diez as for doing the bios update on the card it was simple once i got it i was a bit worried about frying it but it worked out great. and as for functionality its great. and for linux drivers i doubt it cause its running of freebsd kernel and unix code so the similarities are there but would require a bit more coding and skill to get it working correctly that why most havent figured out the wifi card yet. as for dual core here is a guy on a dell not the same model that says he got it working. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...47972&st=40 the guy tbcarey on page three. check it out.

Any chance you could point me in the direction of your broadcom fix? I haven't managed to get mine working yet. I have a device ID of 1600. I'll be trying audio today using the same method as you. Thankfully, your post has directed me to the correct code dump file.

Thanks!

Ok, have more stuff on my box working. I got audio working by unzipping the patcher on the OSX hard drive instead of the ntfs drive. Running things from the ntfs drive may be the root of most of my problems. I used the 9200-c.txt linux code dump file.

Broadcom is next and I ordered a dell 1490 wifi card off fleabay to replace the problematic 3945.

I have full video, audio (with mute, no headphones) and wireless going if anyone needs help. seniorlocksmith helped me out, but im currently running 10.4.9, and will try to help if anyone needs it!

Hey Pyro. I'm also running 10.4.9 Uphuck flavor. I also have full video, audio(no mute though), and wireless but no local network. I have a broadcom 57xx(Believe it's a 5751) with device ID info as follows: PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_1600&SUBSYS_01CE1028&REV_02\4&378EDFA4&0&00E2

For the most part this thing is working fabulously but I'd love to get wired network support.

Thanks for any help you're able to provide.

sorry for not checking the posts, ive been busy for a while. yes the 9200 works great, and the nic is a no go for now, from what ive heard, if anyone has it working please correct me. and for the guy who cannot flash his vbios. sorry, your out of luck unless the old macvidia drivers or nvidiaefi, which i heard was one of the best for 512mb cards or any of the others start working without the bios fix. I read over on another forum that the vbios for most windows pcs is not filled in all the way due to windows not needing certain codes that mac uses. since windows uses its apis and other kernal substitutions for video display. mac is rooted in having all the info from each device, hence why many people have issues with their hardware because mac is not a supported os for it.
