shoarthing
. . . . Please Note: I am using Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 Make the Disk Director boot/recovery CD [with everything on it]. Boot to this, run Disk Director & disable 'OS Selector' Then try your OSX86 install CD: I assume you've done all your reading on how to install. hogcia
Hi shoarthing, I made a boot disk using the Bootable Rescue Media Builder. But I am new to Acronis so I am not sure what you mean by [with everything on it] I booted the system with the boot disk in the drive and all it did was take me into the Acronis Disk Director Suite main page. Do you think the problem can be Acronis? Do you think it would help if I uninstall the Acronis program all together? Thanks for your help
shoarthing
Hi - when making the boot CD, you have a choice of what to put on it - choose all the options. . . whatever, the 'Disk Director Suite Main Page' should have an item [to the lower RH of the screen] to disable 'OS Selector' Personally, I would uninstall the thing & either use XP's boot loader [with 'chain0'] or Darwin's bootloader: which you use depends a bit on which OS is installed last [both will overwrite the MBR with their own gadget]. There are various dual-boot install guides here & in the wiki. Your problem may or may not be with 'OS Selector' - I found it impossible to install from recent 10.4.10 DVDs with the thing enabled. Since you are [shudder] using an NFORCE 6xx mobo & NV 8xxx video-accelerator you will have a fair few hurdles to jump to get things working well. Robijinho
I have exactly the same problem!! And tried the things suggested in this thread but none seem to work for me... Does anybody has other suggestions? ETA: The only difference is I have an ATA HDD 3.04G.B/s and a ATI Radeon 200series as VideoCard, is this a problem? potato540
hi to the original poster and other having troubles with this step. i'm also pretty much a nub at running osX on my pc laptop and i also got stuck at the same stage you are at (with 10.4.8), but managed to get past it and have almost everything working now. others in this thread have made reference to some possible hardware issues you may have - i know nothing regarding their comments (they are more than likely correct) - but i thought i'd still add my comments in case its any help to you. ok so i went thru this whole process like you using Acronis as my boot loader. I have a 100Gb HD which i split into 3 partitions like this |--30Gb NTFS "WinXp"--| |--10Gb FAT32(Partition Type "0xAF ShagOSswap") "Mac OS X"--| |--50Gb FAT32 "Storage Drive for both to access"--| Issue 1 : Make sure!! After you format your MAC OS X drive to FAT32, you go into the Advanced settings for that partition and make the Partition Type "0xAF ShagOSswap" (it's in Acronis, right click it and go Advanced) Issue 2 : Originally when i first was learning how to do this i had the partitions setup slightly differently. I had it as above, but in this order (30Gb"xp", 50Gb"storage", 10Gb"osx"). This would always give me a 'ghosted drive install options' just like the originall poster was having. Once i changed the partition order somehow it fixed this issue and my 10Gb partition became active ready to have OS X installed on it. Well after that everything else worked and the install went ok - Acronis seems abit slow but i'm abit nub at this stuff and hey its all working so i'm happy hopefully some of that may be of some help to you and if not keep searching these forums for help. good luck
