Everything on the computer is stock except for upgraded RAM & Video Card. It's got... Dual-Core Intel Pentium D Processor 820 (2.80 GHz) CPU Instruction Sets: x86, x86-64, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3 Asus P5LP-MB (Talas) Motherboard Intel Lakeport i945P Chipset BIOS is Phoenix Award BIOS v6.00PG and is NON-UPGRADEABLE 2.5GB PC2-4200 533MHz DDR2 RAM 200 GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive nVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 512MB x16 PCI-Express Video Card Monitor: BenQ FP202W (Digital) [20" LCD] (16377910) Audio Adapter: SigmaTel STAC9225 / CXD9872RD/K @ Intel 82801GB ICH7 - HD Audio Controller [A-1] Network Adapter: Intel® PRO/1000 PM Network Connection And a Generic USB 2.0 Card The install disc I will be using is "Mac OS X 10.4.8 [AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 With PPF1-&-PPF2].iso" Is this the most current, up-to-date-disc / most supported? -- Or is there a better alternative? Just wondering if anything stands out in this list that can be verified from personal experiences either compatible or incompatible. I really want to start working on doing my reasearch before attempting my first OSx86 install, and I would love to use people's feedback as a starting point for my research. I'm the type of person that likes to be sure something is going to work out without too much tedious configuration before I attempt it. So please, feedback is much appreciated! jpsiemer Posted October 2, 2007 Author Share Posted October 2, 2007 I did end up doing a little research and I found that most of my compnents are going to work fine, however I was unable to find little information about the following components of my system: Video Card Audio Adapter Network Adapter I also just realized that there is a release of 10.4.10 out in the wild so I am currently downloading it... File name is: "Kalyway 10.4.10 (IntelSSE3 + V1.1_AMD&SSE2_Patch+Fixes)" Anybody have any information on whether or not a GeForce 8400 GS video card will work, or if my audio & network adapters described in the above post will work... All I need is a couple of opinions because I've searched everywhere and was unable to find any information pertaining to my video/audio/&network devices. Are there any educated guesses out there that can at least lead me into choosing the correct and most reliable distribution of OSx86??? kurmiic Posted October 16, 2007 Share Posted October 16, 2007 ha mate - i got the same problem - i started a thread yesterday - i installed macos XxX 10.4.10 and drivers missing for the same components that you have - it seems it is hard to find out EXactly what sigmatel and what ethernet components are built in the sony laptops.... i know that the biggest problem i have is Nvidia 8400 drivers..... i sorted the ethernet card ... now working on the sound card solutions ....
