mcenroe
Hi Guys... First of all I would like to express my gratitude for such a great forum, I found all the needed information I was looking for and even more. This is my question and I'm sorry if I bother with something other people already asked, I been trying to use the "search" but it's not working right now. I build up the following configuration for a PC and I wanna install only OS X (not windows) so I would really appreciate if someone could tell me if any component I choose it's not working ok or anything it might help me, I will buy the parts later this week I and I want to be sure I'm not making any mistakes, below the components: Chip: AMD 4800 Motherboard: MSI K9N Platinium (any other mother working better for the same range of money?) Ram: 2GB Dual 800 HD: SATA 400 GB (two of them) Video: What I don't know yet, I'm not a game player so I don't need any great video card, just want one which will work with my BENQ LCD 19 Wide monitor and will not cause any problems. I was thinking about getting a Nvidia 6200 or an Ati Radeon X1550, is that ok? which one is better? And as for the last question, for what I read the best choise is to install the Tubgirl 10.4.10 release... is that ok? or there is any better? Thank you so much in advance for your help!!! mcenroe
hi guys... I been checking and I saw that people usually says that Intel chipsets with intel motherboards run much better than AMD X2 with OSX86... I can buy as well an Intel6750 with an Intel motherboard such as 965... Is that better than AMD X2 with MSI K9N Platinium motherboard? Which one will cause me less problems? Any help would be much appreciated! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65118-amd-configuration-please-help/#findComment-461432 Share on other sites
dasepsilon
if you read the hcl 10.4.8 its obvious that generally an intel system will work better.. (check the hcl to get an impression what kind of mobo will do) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65118-amd-configuration-please-help/#findComment-461437 Share on other sites
mcenroe
thank you so much dasepsilon. for what I read in the hlc the ASUS P5LD2 VM is the one with no problems, almost fully working out of the box... any suggestions? I would buy it together with an Intel E6750 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65118-amd-configuration-please-help/#findComment-461448 Share on other sites
dasepsilon
i am no expert on mobos compatible with osx86-- so hopefully someone else will answer regarding the compability-- but how about a more 'modern' mobo, supporting faster RAM and 45nm quad-core, e.g. P965 chipset or equivalent/better? (maybe the ASUS P5B-VM will do???) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65118-amd-configuration-please-help/#findComment-461454 Share on other sites
mcenroe
yeah, I thought about that too... the thing is that I been a Mac user for 12 years now and I have almost no experience on Pcs, that's why I'm asking this much I only want to make a config which will not drive me crazy when installing and with a good performance. Thank's for the advise... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/65118-amd-configuration-please-help/#findComment-461561 Share on other sites
