Boots, but doesn't

hello everybody,

 

i was very glad on having OS X on my pc, but it didnt work, the installation worked fine, but when i boot the osx it appears a white screen with the Apple logo loading, after 2-5 minutes it appears like a no smoking logo above the Apple logo, and it stays loading for ever, ive lefted at night and when i woke up it was still freezed, does anybody knows how to fix this? ive checked the hardware support and everything is supported.

sounds like your making it boot from the wrong partition or HDD

yah same problem happened with my dell labtop i got a imac lol ezer but i did find out y mine had the no smoking logo its cuz i only had 256 memory and it cant boot with only 256 needs at least 512 idk maybe u have 512 just saying what happened to me

Boot up OS X in verbose:

 

Right before OS X loads, start tapping F8 until you get to the boot: prompt. Type in:

 

-v

 

And hit enter. If an error screen comes up, post the screen up here.

i did the -v command and the only thing i get is a mouse input timeout error something like that, and then nothing else. I tried to boot up without the mouse hehe but didnt work.

Are you using a USB mouse or a PS/2 mouse? You might have to install the PS/2 and/or USB drivers from the install disc.

i have a usb mouse, logitech mx500, how do i install the usb drivers if i cannot acces OS X?

 

i have a JaS iso, maybe if i try with tubgirl's?

You can install USB drivers from the install disc. Boot into your installer DVD, select nothing but the USB drivers and install.

maybe because i have a sata hdd? dont say thats the problem, just to get rid of the problem pleaseeee! i really want to solve this, thank youu

What happens when you try and boot without the mouse? Same thing?

hi...i had same problem...i removed my adaptec 29160 controller from computer. now it runs all smooth here. will try leopard soon.

pentium d 805

asrock 775i65G

6600GT

1GB RAM

You must install "right" patch for your system, not install all patches.

for pcwiz: yes, without the mouse nothing changes.

 

Kelvin kc chan: i only installed the JaS AMD SSE2,SSE3, not the intel, and the ati drivers, not nvidia. So the patches are the right ones for my system.

 

toldor: what do u mean? i have a sata hdd but no an adaptec controller, what do i need to do?

Install JaS without ANY patches. Deselect everything except Essential System Software.

im going to try that later, thanks, is it easy to get the ati drivers after installation? and, isnt important to install AMD SSE2, and SSE3?

Oh yeah sorry. Install just the Essential System Software and the AMD.SSE2.SSE3 patch.

I have the same problem. I tried 3 different kind of installations.

 

First time I selected all drivers and packages without I even looked what it was, and I got a CPU error after the installation.

 

Second time I selected a few drivers, for VGA and stuff.. Gave me the same screen as Epkins described.

 

Third time I didn't select any driver, same problem...

 

I have a P4 2,8GHZ.

Select the Essential System Software and the patch for your CPU (Intel) and nothing else. If it doesn't work and you get the "CPU error" again, we need to know the exact message to help.
