oSxFr33k
Can someone Please help me with this upgrade procedure. I have a Dell Dimention P4 sse2 processor. Its 512 cache and 533 bus. I checked and its 2.4GHZ Celeron D. I checked the charts and it sais SSE2 unless I am wrong?? The procedure is here "http://www.profit42.com/index.php/2007/04/07/osx-1049-vista-dual-boot-on-your-windows-machine/" It is an all in one dual boot and upgrade to KoolKal's Combo update. Anyhow my Nvidia 5200 card that was working in Jas 10.4.8 and now does not work after the update. The natit and titan package from jas 10.4.8 worked flawlessly on my graphics card. Another thing that broke was the loginwindow. Here is what was checked by default for KoolKals Combo Upgrade package: MACOSXupd Combo 10.4.9 Intel 1049 Patch Essential 8.9.1 IOATAfamily + ich8 Sata IONetworking Family In Addtition to Default choices I on my own chose: "Apple ac97" "LOGINWINDOW 10.4.4 Upgrade" Could the loginwindow upgrade break my loginwindow? I know there is a patch for it and it fixes it but then it seems to break my System Profiler application. I posted this seperately and there was a reply that there is a patch for this to? Have to find that as well unless someone has a link for it? My question is should I leave everything at default and not choose the Apple AC97 nor loginwindow 10.4.4 upgrade? Also should I leave the default choice "1049 Patch Essential 8.9.1" Or Choose the other on"1049 Patch Essential 8.8.1"? I believe that Jas 10.4.8 installs the 8.8.1 kernel so should I am unsure if that means I need to choose the "1049 Patch Essential 8.8.1" package" that is not set by default? After the install I went to IRC #Kernel to grab the 8.9.1 sse2 kernel and replaced it as the How to Guide link above. I followed exactly as the guide tells you step for step. The guide does not tell you though which Essential package to choose from, but once the installer starts it does say choose only 1 or the other and I left the default "1049 Patch Essential 8.9.1" So is the "1049 Patch Essential 8.9.1" Package breaking my Nvidia 5200 Graphics card drivers? Should I be choosing the 8.8.1? I wonder if KoolKal's has a forum and I should post this there unless someone here knows the answer? So t sum it up the KoolKal's Combo SSE3 Intel 10.4.9 package breaks my Nvidia 5200, blank screen and breaks the loginwindow. I did backup my mach_kernel and Extensions and put them back and repaired disk. Had to do this a few times and I wonder if that is what broke my system Profiler Application. Keep in mind I just did another fresh, clean install , and still have the issues of no screen, blank and broken loginwindow. I hope someone can really help with this cause its been almost a week and I cannot resolve it. One more thing. If I remove the graphic card I can boot into 10.4.9 just fine. So if there is a workaround I can work under the Built in Intel graphics card to fix whatever I need to fix then put the Nvidia card back in. One more very important thing. On the 10.4.8 Jas FUll install I did choose the natit and Titan NV package and it work perfect until the combo upgrade. I see a post here by prasys "http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=36435&st=80" She sais not to choose the titan package on the jas install DVD and to use her patch? I wonder if I left the titan package unchecked from the FUll install of Jas 10.4.8 then upgraded, then installed her patch if it would work? Her patch might be older than the Jas 10.4.8 DVD? Or older than the Combo 10.4.9 update so maybe the patch won't work? Edited Post: I tried here patch and it does not fix the blank screen problem. At the boot prompt I typed -v Verbose and I can see the natit and titan fail for the card so this KoolKal's upgrade has doen something somewhere to break my Graphics driver package. I would really appreciate it if someone can help me on this? Does Kookal have a forum so I can post this there?
