kadmiff
Hi all, Firstly thanx for all the info here, this site is fantastic... I have an asus striker extreme with core2 and a 7600gt card(well 2 but one is removed now :censored2:) I can install jas 10.4.8 and get all working great - well not the onboard network... (thank goodness for the pci) I installed Kalyway 9a527 and all was good ... the common mach reboot halt but after trying to boot to leopard.. it loads the darwin boot loader then reboots all the time... tried -s -x -v -legacy and other than the initial large font loading (kexts I think) it reboots before being able to see what it was loading last and never gets to the small text font screen... I thought what the hell Ill load it on the laptop (p7200) Well then I noticed .. same problem.. I ran disc utils in leopard dvd and after running verify or repair it halts saying that there are no valid packages. This is on both machines... Im at a loss... If anyone can shed some light on the subject it would be greatly appreciated.. bluedogmike
Hello, I use an Asus P5NSLI mobo, a 7300gt 512 video card(flashed and working great w/JAS 10.4.8), and a Core 2 Duo 6400 cpu, on a Pata install. Same problem, can't seem to locate the culprit. kadmiff
Hi,I have exactly the same problem after installing the 10.4.9.... Any solutions ? to tell you the truth.. I would try jas 10.4.8 have you tried it ? as I cant get 10.4.9 working as well... It is obviously a hardware issue... Now gets me thinking.. I originally thought it was related to the sata being nvidia, but 10.5 actually detects sata perfectly in disk utility. so its got to be other hardware... still using the ide drive though. . Might try sata seeing it detects on install.. Might remove the video drivers .. all of them... but I dont think it gets that far..? Really wanted to see the 3d task bar .. can anyone shed a little bit of light on this ? GladiatorII
use an AMD kernel, it's noHPET. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/64364-leopard-installed-ok-but-now-just-reboots/#findComment-456744 Share on other sites
bluedogmike
GladiatorII, You are definitely correct. I replaced the mach_kernel with a nohpet kernel from synthetix (IRC) , and was able to start boot process, but received errors and consistently would crash when I would get to initial setup. It almost seems like my ACPI settings were messed up, I could here my harddrives go on standby, and if I left the beachball spin too long, my pc entered a sleeplike state. I repaired permissions each time by booting with -v -x -s flags and also threw in the -cpus=1 flag occasionally. Lets just say my results were real inconsistent. bluedogmike
it's cpus=1 not -cpus=1 I realized this yesterday and all was good, had a ittle trouble getting through initial setup, I opted for transfering settings from other install (10.4.8) and all was good. Now to work out a few quirks.................................
