    STRIKER EXTREME

ok I thought people would read before they post but.... Asus striker extreme works with kalyway, iatkos v1 r3, ide no problem sata... ? I was going to wait till i finished the iatokos v2.0i install to let people know about sata... but whilst it installed, it didnt do the boot loader... But as it installed all the way Im pretty sure ill get the sata side working.I have both a sata dvd and a ide dvd drive . In order to boot the dvd to setup screen you need to use the -v cpus=1 but after that its pretty straight forward. As ive stated before , you need the nforce kernel for core 2 duo or higher if you dont want to use the cpus=1 switch. I havent tried leo4 all , but will be doing that after I get 2.0i working. If im not too lazy ill do some screen shots of the required files. which I might add Iatkos has alot of. I think the Iatkos team has done exceptionally well with their latest version... cheers, Paul (kadmiff)

Is leopard a real 64bit OS?

As far As I know Mac os leopard is not Fully 64 bit.... But the 4 gig issue is not related to 32 bit or 64 bit... well from what I've read... If you want to go higher than 64 gig you will need an 64 bit os... Oh and since service pack1, vista 32bit has no problems with 4 gig or higher.. and thats not with any memory holes.... ETC!!!

    Boot Time

I think I understand where he is coming from... Prior to installing the 10.5.2 update , my machine would boot like lightning. After the update , when It goes to switch to GUI , It sits on the black screen for about 30 seconds prior to showing the desktop.. It could be that things are getting loaded that dont need to or some modified kexts are not working correctly. I know that The sata / pata Kext (medievil) doesnt work too good for me on my Striker board. @FilipeMB the only problem is that there could be a number of reasons why it doesnt boot fast. As for cpu /ram etc... Whilst this will def help run leopard better, I dont think this makes the boot too much faster. I have 3 pc's running Leopard. One is a monster and 1x intel (gigabyte) board , and a laptop.. And the fastest (by far) to boot is the Lowest spec machine, but the most compatable spec... Unfortuantly, unless you have all the kexts that you load working perfectly, things wont load fast. Cheers, Paul (kadmiff)

AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

m8 You should download a live linux cd Ubantu or something.. If you have sound then get the codec0 from there and use that... that will be the most likely way to get sound in 10.5 or 10.5.1... as stated in the first post.. taruga has got it working in 10.5.2 but hasnt released the version 2.0 yet

    OSX 10.5.1 ""WELCOME LOOP" Help

I have had this problem before aswell ... Well only on my Striker... which I might add is where i am stuck due to the graphics update 1.0 killing my install... I know that it is simply because i have to use the -x switch to get in.. I know that if it needs to identify my keyboard at this point it will always loop... I have to (using mac drive in windows) add the correct kexts for video and network and get it to a point that i dont have to use the -x and it goes through... Dont know if this will help anyone but hope it does.. Cheers, Paul
  8. m8 have you tried cpus=1 ... You will need to use a different Kernel for quad core.... I have an Nvidia board so cant tell you which kernel to use though....

    Restart, all the time?

Well I too would recomend getting a linux dump from a live cd that gives you sound... Just because you have an alc260 (example) and I have one .. It doesnt mean that the linux dump I have would be identicle the the linux dump that your machine generates... If fact I have tried 6 different dumps all for the same chip and none of them work for me... and they are all substantually different in pin complex and stuff... Cheers, Paul

    STRIKER EXTREME

Sorry I only saw this now... I have had kaly 10.5.1 working with a core2 quad (striker extreme mobo) 7600gt (full features) and sound 2 channel... network doesnt work too good for me though you need the nforce (efi enabled) kernel if you have 2 cores or more(wont need the cpus=1) http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/7/5/1099..._efi_kernel.zip ps I would just copy to root as nforce .. that way you can press the enter key in the 4 second count and type nforce...

    Realtek HD Audio

Hi Peoples, I have an alc260 codec in an NEC p7200 laptop applehdapatcher 1.20 AppleHDA Patcher - 2006/2007 by Taruga v1.20 * Patching AppleHDA.kext to 0x10ec0260 Done * Checking AppleHDA for patch Done 0001f4a0 cmpl $0x10ec0885,%eax 0001f4a7 cmpl $0x10ec0260,%eax 00020584 cmpl $0x10ec0885,%eax 0002058b cmpl $0x10ec0260,%eax * Checking for SPDIF Out Detected * Checking for SPDIF In Not Detected * Using the following nodes in pathmap Speaker : 15 8 2 Spdif Out: 24 3 * Copying new config to destination Done * Repairing Permissions Done * Deleting Extensions Cache Done ** Done patching - You can reboot now ** on reboot volume is there line out digital audio there is a very very faint sound out of the headphone socket(which is also the SPDIF Out ) I would assume that the digital works as with azalia I get the same out of the headphones but the light isn't on, whereas the light is on with hda.. if i could only get the internal speakers to work , Wow... Please find the attatched working codec dump from ubantu cheers, Paul (kadmiff) alc260.txt

AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

Firstly, Thanx TARUGA for your efforts, as most here would deaf to the world of Mac without you...LOL anyway for those that have an alc260... Attached is the codec dump from Ubantu... I seem to get digital out(optical light is on but havent tested) and Line out (from headphone socket) However the sound out of the the socket is so low that some might think there is no sound at all... It is there if you put headphones on and use say submarine sound at full volume... I have also sent an email as per the first post request with the vendor id as the subject.. maybe some of the alc260 users could test this dump with v1.20 of appleahda and see if they get further than me... Thanx again TARUGA for you efforts.. Paul (kadmiff) alc260.txt

    nForce 650i SLI

for leopard, this is the thread for you... http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=69705 as for Tiger... The only install i could get working perfectly was Jas 10.4.8 ...I would try that , but after install boot with f8 then -v -s and remove the kexts related to nvida and geforce ... then after it boots go hunt down the right drivers for your video ... Ps: Leopard can dual boot with vista, however ... If you format guid then only 64bit versions will work xp 64 vista 64.. I would use a seperate h/disk for vista as this is safer ... that way you can select usin the standard f8 on boot for boot list... Mbr partition will let you use the 32 bit versions of vista and xp , but resizing partitions on the fly is not possible... Cheers, Paul (kadmiff)
