Hello, i was wondering if somebody could help me... :)

I have an MPU-401 midi port embedded in my Asus K8N motherboard, and usually I plug in a Roland keyboard, used for give a midi input for various applications such as some virtual synthesizers. In windows and linux it works good, but on my uphuck 1.4a it doesn't seem... I've already searched on google for this problem, with no relevant results, and of course I've already searched on this forum, with no results even here. I've already tried to see if the midi utility in Application/Utilities told me something useful, but I realize it doesn't even recognize the port. How do I do? Thanks in advice! :D

You're better off getting some USB MIDI interface or - definitely better - a good firewire audio interface with MIDI on board. I don't think those 'PC-style' MPU401 have ever been supported by any Mac OS. If I remember correctly, some of the classic Macs had 5-pin MIDI I/O integrated whereas the MPU401 is somehow connected with the game port on a PC and require a breakout cable. Different worlds I suppose...

I tried to make OS X recognize my Creative SB Extigy midi ports, but it doesn't works.. :( I don't know if there are some drivers working on 1.4.8, can you suggest me something, please? This is my second time installing Mac OS X, the first one the system recognized the midi ports, i was wondering if this time I omitted some drivers from the installation... Thank you in advance and sorry for my bad english... :(

I tried to reinstall mac os x, and now it recognized extigy... just for a pair of sessions. Now i have it on my midi devices list but i can't make it active, by checking the "device is online" box, since that box is inactive... How do i do??? It seems i'm the only one on the entire world with this problem! Where are Mac nerds?? Please, somebody help me!

Found this in the wiki:

Extigy Creative Labs USB

Working 2channel analogue output+headphone works, NEEDS power on/off/replug USB to work after each reboot!

Only works on SSE2 machines with 10.4.9 Netkas Kernel, works on most sse3 with older kernels

YES "only needs to be reconnected /powered on-off, each time you booted"
