Hi guys, I'm glad to be part of this community. I'm Guglielmo, living in Milan and kinda bored of using Windows. Failing to accept Fedora and Ubuntu, here I am. So, let's get started with the questions:

- My rig is pretty identical to a MacBook (Core 2 Duo T5500, i945 with GMA 950). But will 1 GB be enough to run gently and smoothly Mac OS X?

- Being that my system (if you need more specifical figures, I'll give you), what is the best Mac OS X release I should run?

- Do I need external hardware to have the procedure done properly? I mean, USB hard disk, cables, etc... I don't know, explain me.

- Is there any risk to bring damage to the hardware? I don't give a heck about the files, I have backups, but ruining my brand new laptop isn't what I want...

That's all. For now. I hope you will help me. :) Oh, and if I mispell something or speak very, very bad English, please correct me. I'm still learning. :D

Hi,

No problems installing MacOsX on your system, 1 Gb is sure enough!

I would install the 'older' Uphuck 10.4.9 system for Intel: uphuck 10.4.9 Intel x86 install dvd v1.4i r3.

It has proven to work on a lot of systems, choose the correct video driver for your GMA950.

The newer 10.4.10 installation DVD's are still very new and you can have problems. Sure you can update your 10.4.9 afterwards...

You don't have to be afraid of damaging hardware, although you can loose data (I erased my partitions on my HD once ...)

When you won't to make a dual booting system, read the topics on the dual boot Windows-MacOsX.

First prepare your HD making a second partition in Windows (make it fat32). With the Mac installation DVD you can erase that fat32 partition and make it HFS+ with Disk Utility.

After this you can install and pray ... :)

succes !
