mrxino
I finally installed Mac OS X on my Asus A8Ja (notebook with x1600 mobility) successfully but now i want to install my videocard... I read many topic around here and everytime people are talking about EDID... Can somebody tell me what that is and more important, how i get mine? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63762-how-to-get-your-edid/ Share on other sites
ninetto
Use the Phoenix-Tool... google to download or check the ATIIJECT -link in my signature. It takes a bit of tinkering with ATIINJECT, but I was very happy in the end. Also the recent introduction of KEXT HELPER saves a lot of agony typing terminal commands... good luck, ninetto Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63762-how-to-get-your-edid/#findComment-451266 Share on other sites
mrxino
Ok thx for your help! I tried to follow your instructions from the URL in your signature but i really can't let it work correctly :/ I used an ATIinject.kext from a user on that topic who also have a ATI Mobility x1600... i edided the following options in ATIinject.kext: In Info.plist i changed the following: Root/IOKitPersonalities/ATIinject/IOPCIMathc to 0x71c51002&0x0000ffff (since in about my mac i can see the following: Device ID: 0x71c5n Revision ID: 0x0000) Root/IOKitPersonalities/ATIinject/entriesToAdd/DFP1,EDID and; Root/IOKitPersonalities/ATIinject/entriesToAdd/LVDS,EDID both to: <00ffffff ffffff00 0daf0914 00000000 150f0103 801e1378 0a048597 57518926 1f505400 00000101 01010101 01010101 01010101 0101bc1b 00a05020 17303020 36002fbe 10000018 000000fe 004e3134 3149312d 4c30330a 20200000 00fe0043 4d4f0a20 20202020 20202020 000000fe 004e3134 3149312d 4c30330a 202000b4 > I dragged ATIinject.kext into Kexthelper, entered my password and pressed install... it says that it was succesfully been installed. I also copied the other ATI file to the extension directory... after a reboot nothing was changed, still the same resolution (1024x768)... Can somebody please tell me exactly what to do? It's just freaking me out... trying this for a week now and i really want to have it working correctly!! Thanks! ninetto
Okey i think i figured out how to edit those KEXT files... but when i entered the properties explained above, and i restart my PC... i get grey/black stripes verticaly over my whole screen... on both outputs (VGA and monitor inside the laptop)... What am i doing wrong?? Perhaps some info on your machine and the history of the OSX install you are currently working on...? Installed with what options? As noted repeatedly on lots of themes, if you install 5 different video drivers, three different versions of NATIT and THEN try to insert ATIINJECT , you have concocted a maze which neither you nor anyone knowing nothing about your machine and living 8000 kilometers away can get you out of... more info please, maybe something might tip me off where you are screwing up... regards, ninetto Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63762-how-to-get-your-edid/#findComment-454501 Share on other sites
