~pcwiz
OMGitsMacGyver, I'm writing this from Uphuck 1.4iR3 installed on a Comstar External USB Drive. Its 100% possible. Daunotribe: All you have to do is: Make sure the USB HDD is formatted as FAT32 Boot the JaS Disc Open Disk Utility Choose your external drive Click Partition Tab Set Partition Scheme to 1 Set format to Mac OS Extended Journaled Give the volume a name Click on the Options button and choose Master Boot Record and click OK (**this step is critical. Without it, OS X will not boot) Click the Partition/Format/OK button (don't rememer which) After its done, click on your new USB drive volume from the left panel (** make sure to select the right drive) Click the Erase tab and click the Erase button Close Disk Utility Install OS X Once installation is complete and your computer reboots, go into your computers BIOS and set the boot device order to boot from the USB drive FIRST Save the BIOS settings and reboot and OS X should load! Hope this helps If you have any more problems, post back pcwiz Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63574-problem-with-external-usb-hdd/#findComment-449982 Share on other sites

~pcwiz
In the partition tab, click the Options BUTTON to access the Master Boot Record. If there is no Options button in the Partition tab, then you need to use the Uphuck v1.4iR3 DVD to partition.
