paul10590
Help :'( this is so {censored}. I have to say this is hard, and i really dont think the install guides are that detailed. Anyway i have a dell dimension 8400, using 10.4.9 uphuck 1.4i r3 , not dual booting JUST installing os x. So burnt dvd, booted off it, erased hard drive, formatted and installed. Installs ok, reboots and now has a blinking cursor top left. I've tried the henrin boot cd with partition magic pro and setting the partition to active, but for the partition it just shows 'bad' please can someone help, it cant be that hard can it? why is this not simple Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/63459-startup-blinking-cursor/ Share on other sites
Headrush69
When you partitioned the drive did you make sure under options it was set to MBR partition table type and not GUID or Apple partition type? paul10590
ok ive repartitioned and made sure it had MBR set in disk utility . that worked, it rebooted into osx , but kernel panicked immediately on the grey screen with a load of text. grrrr how do you i start about troubleshooting, what should i install as bare minimum from the custom list:?
