I am running Mac OSX 10.4.8 on one partition and Windows XP on another. My active partition right now is the Mac OSX 10.4.8 partition. My problem right now is that I can't seem to figure out how to make Windows XP my active partition. I also need advise on which boot manager is the best to use and how to install it.

Any help would be much appriciated.

Type the following

launch the command prompt then type diskpart after that type select disk 0 then type list part then select the partition where windows resides by typeing select part number after that type active to activate you partition.

I think that you gave me instructions on how to change my active partition from Windows. I need instructions on how to do it from a Mac OSX.

Also is it possible to install a boot manager from Mac OSX?

Once again, any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to press F8 at boot (when Darwin appears), then select the partition to boot from and use the above windows instrustions... But if you need to do this from OSX then:

Open applications / utilities / terminal

Type:

sudo -s

<password>

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0

print

(You will see your partitions)

- HPFS should be your Windows partition

- HFS+ should be your OSX partition

flag <x> where x = the number at the begining of the line of your

write

exit

reboot

I personally (like alot of others) use Acronis OS selector for my boot manager...

I tried fighting with Darwin and Vista boot loader with chain0, (not tried XP) but in the end both boot to the active partition first and you HAVE to press F8 in darwin and select the the required OS. Should be instructions floating around.

Hope this helps!
