alexp
Hi! I installed osx 10.4.3 using the JAS ppF patch, the installation was successful but now i've lost the boot menu that let me choose to start windows xp... now my pc boots directly osx without prompting me to choose another OS. It is possible to restore the boot menu? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6331-no-more-boot-menu/ Share on other sites

alexp
Thanks to all! I resolved using XP's bootloader, since i wanted to set XP as default OS. But now i have another problem: I followed the guide on the wiki, i copied chain0 from the tiger dvd to c:/ and then added a new line into boot.ini.. Now XP's bootloader works correctly, but when i select Mac OSX from the boot menu, the screen becomes black for a couple of seconds, and then goes back to the boot menu... I tried also with other chain0 files, but same result. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6331-no-more-boot-menu/#findComment-41805 Share on other sites

Once OSX86 has boot just change the startup disk from XP to OSX86 and it should work. DrJägermeister
Thanks..It worked with F8. but i want to use the XP bootloader and not OSX because i need Xp as default OS. You can set XP as default OS in the darwin bootloader just with changing the startup disk in OSX86 if your boot.ini is still not working. I tried, but with no success. If i set XP as default OS by setting XP partition as startup disk, the system just boots XP without prompting!! DrJägermeister
No! I set timeout to 15 seconds... Strange, this shouldn't be. Is your XP and OSX86 partition an extented (should be primary)? Or once you change the startup disk, do you take a look at this file from Linux or XP (with MACdrive) if the timeout has not been changed?
