hi there,

i have tubgirl 10.4.10 installed on an asus m2npv-mx mobo with amd athlon 2.4. when i try to create dmg's using dropdmg or other utilities - including disk utility, i get this error: 1 - hdiutil: create failed - internal error. few folders and files work, but the majority result in the previous error. anyone experiencing a similar situation? any suggestions how to fix this ?

thanks

I also get an error message when trying to create a dmg from an existing folder, with DiskUtility. This is in 'tubgirl' 4.10, and also 4.9.

But I can create a new dmg with DiskUtility (ie not from an existing folder, just a brand new empty one), without errors, and then transfer files & folders to it. So you could try that way.

cbmkgd, yeah that worked for me too - sorry forgot to mention that - but it's a long process. in diskutil we have to specify the size manually, and this is the only way to create dmg's so far as other utils would create a dmg from existing folders. thanks for the reply. maybe someone needs to fiddle with an apple script to create this workaround? i know of a script that does what dropdmg does but that also fails because it tries to create dmgs straight from folders.

you think it's an amd error since even 4.9 fails for you (haven't tried 4.9 before on my amd) ?

I remember creating new dmg's in 4.8, but never needed to do so from existing folders.

Don't know from where this error began; don't know if it's limited to the 'tubgirl' releases, or if it's also present in the jas/uphuck. And don't know if it's amd-related.

Strange: one would think that creating a dmg from a folder would just be the succession of creating a new folder and then copying the folder and its subfolders inside the dmg...

i have created dmg's from folders on a P4 SSE2 system using 10.4.8 system and it still works. my athlon machine is new and i immediately installed tubgirl's 10.4.10 release on it. thanks for the info. i guess either someone might come up with an applescript to fix this if it's a universal issue, or i just live with it until i get my mbpro and this one as a server.

cheers,
