newman4ever
Been reading the forums for awhile now, and getting ready to take the plunge and try out OSX86, but I wanted some advice first from some others who have done it already. My hardware is as follows: DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D (uses Nforce4 chipset) with Athlon64 X2 4200 processor (supports SSE3) 2 gigs G.SKill Ram ATI Radeon X800 GTO2 video card Dual Maxtor SATA harddrives setup as Striped RAID I have an Blank ATA133 drive that I wanted to install OSX on, and the MOBO I have has a function where I can choose the boot device at boot-time so I thought maybe a native install on this drive, while leaving my Win XP install on my RAID untouched would be the best option. Based on this info, how would you recommend I proceed? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks. temis
You seem to have a nice and "runnable" system ... just install ... and if you run into problem some of us will help for sure For the choice of the boot device ... make sure that other than the boot device type you will be able to choose the harddrive to boot into ! If you cant choose the HD then use the chain0 trick it's simple and quite harmless for other Oses installed. In xp : add c:\chain0="Mac OSx86" to boot.ini and put chain0 file in / (find this file in wiki) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6312-recommendations-for-install/#findComment-39352 Share on other sites
