Self-assigned IP

Hi there,

I'm having issues synchronizing my Windows Mobile based PDA with my 10.4.10 Hackintosh (using uphuck 10.4.9, upgraded via koolkal's combo update).

I've nailed it down to my Mac not assigning an IP to the network device which Missing Sync creates for my PDA. On my MacBook Pro everything is fine (the device gets an IP assigned, some 169.254.... if I remember correctly, it syncs, finished). So my question is, what program/driver is responsible for these self-assigned IP addresses? I imagine I just would have to copy it over from my MacBook.

On the other hand, my ethernet device gets a self-assigned IP adress when I disable my DHCP server. But in that case I can't ping my MacBook, while from my MacBook I can ping the hackintosh.

Any idea/suggestions/adivce is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
