hi guys, i have a asus m2n-e motherboard with nForce 570 ultra and the main problem i encountered after i installed OS X 10.4.8 is that the LAN is not working. in system profiler the device has been picked up, showing the mac address and everything, but its inactive. the link lights dont turn on which is strange because the link lights never turn off, even when i shutdown the machine (wake-up on lan) but when i boot into OS X the lights switch off and theres no connectivity. i tried installing forcedeth and followed the instructions correctly and still no luck.

It's easier to buy cheap Realtek NIC 8139 which works perfect and forget about the lan from the motherboard. Unless you want 1Gb connectivity.

I'm a difficult SOB and don't have a spare NIC to hand (got one in the loft/attic, but that's up there ----^).

Since Linux's forcedeth is working fine on the same mobo, I've been trying to re-port forcedeth from Linux into the OS X driver we all know and love to get it working on my MCP55 Abit KN9S motherboard.

No luck yet, but at least it now finds my card. It just constantly reports the link status as "down". Short version: don't hold your breath.
