you've probably heard all about the asus eee, and i don't know about you, but i'm excited to get one. i only have a few questions:

1) the model i'm getting has a 2gb flash based hard drive. is that enough for even the smallest (minimal install of osx86)? like when you remove all the {censored} like language stuff and orinter drivers, doesn't it come out to less than 2gb, like 1.9gb or something? if not, how do i make it fit?

2) the graphics card is an intel gma910. somewhere in between a 900 and 915. will i have to do that pin thing as described here? http://forum.insanelymac.com/uploads/post-...-1160846022.gif

3) it is rumored that the eee will have only one mouse button (just like a macbook :) ), that shouldn't affect osx, will it?

4) lastly, the screen resolution is purported to be either 640x480 or 800x480. does osx support either of these resolutions?

thanks guys. when i get mine, i'll post here about it! :D

I tried to do a base installation of OSX86 on a 2gb USB thumb drive and using uphuck's v1.4iR3, when I just checked to install the basic components, I was already beyond my space limits. Since then, I've opted for an 8gb thumb drive that works great.

I don't think you can reduce it because the installer is going to be looking for all those things and you'll probably get errors all over the place if it can't find them. I thought I read that the eee was going to have a 4 or 8gb possibility. Is the 2 something new? Also, I think there are 4 usb connections, so if the bios allows it, it might be possible to boot OSX directly from an external drive.

Well, the resolution wouldn't be a problem (as OS X can use similar resolutions when outputting to a TV), but as I recall, those will be using one of the oddball embedded processors, so you might have problems with SSE2 and SSE3 support.

edit: nevermind, I was wrong, they are using a Celeron M with SSE2.

In my opinion, there really is no point installing OS X on that "laptop". You can't do any more with OS X on that than you can with the preinstalled Tux OS. Its more of a large screened PDA/ Portable DVD player to me, except with the addition of a laptop style.

Well, for me the point is that I could use the applications that I have and I'm used to work with. Plus most of us will agree that the look&feel of OSX is simply the best :dev: Not to mention the real "Wow!" effect when running OSx86 on such a subnotebook.

platinum, I'm looking forward for your report whether OSx86 will run on the Eee. I really wish you best luck!
